After dinner my wee lass was at me to tie some flies, she'd seen me at the bench earlier. She likes fly tying and she is getting better all the time, if left to her own devices she makes a right old hash of it but if talked through the process she manages quite well, she's still only five. Anyway, I'd been tying some killer bugs earlier so I decided to continue tying some more of these. I tied a couple of variations too, and one is very bright, should be interesting to see if it catches the fishes attention I bet you can't guess which one my 5 year old tied The very bright variant is actually tied with backing line and the cream/tan coloured variant is antron wool instead of the usual 477.

Ive had a good look troutfly & i honestly cant tell which flies your daughter has tied!!
I think its wonderful that your daughter is showing an interest at such a young age & that her Dad is pointing her in the right direction. Give her a few years & she'll be tying up flies to shame us all. I hope she does!!!
Correct me if im wrong, but you seem to tie most of your flies with the Kamasan B911. A superb hook that i mainly use for trotting maggots & corn. I have also been using this hook for tying on & find it has an extremely good fish holding ability for a barbless hook. Whilst not aimed at the fly world, I would strongly recommend the use of this hook for Grayling & Trout.
Regards Stevie.

You are correct, i stumbled across the B911 while hunting for a good all rounder barbless hook a while back. I like Varivas and Tiemco barbless hooks too for specific patterns but they're not so readily available in my local shops. For sakasa kebari, Czech nymphs, buzzers and bugs the B911 makes a pretty good all rounder and the hook hold and strength is very good.

The B911 is excellent for small nymphs - I have a forthcoming article in Trout & Salmon in which I use and recommend it - I think s16 + 18 is best, a 14 starts to look a little heavy, in my opinion.
