No problem, custom Furles are the only ones I have used so I have nothing to compare them with, but people say good things about them.

These furles are in my opinion the absolute best available, and the advantage is that you can have any configuration you wish - you cannot get that service elsewhere.
Simon produces leaders to my formula which are superb.
We know that wind is a big problem so I asked Simon recently to produce one 25% heavier than my usual, which he duly did.
I had a couple of hours on the Dee today in quite a strong breeze so this was the time to try it - I could cast right into the downstreamer with no problem and 7 good grayling was the result to a dry Royal Coachman.
I think it's a mistake to go for the lightest possible leader.
I don't understand how anyone can effectively use a level nylon leader in any kind of breeze, how many calm days do we get ?
To those new to our ranks and uncertain about tackle, you won't do better than Custom-Furles.

Errr... actually you can. If someone wants a furled leader in a size or configuration I don't stock then I can have them made. Turn around is an extra couple of days.
I agree though that in a breeze there is no way you'll be bale to handle a #3 or lighter level line. Even a #4 can be a handful. Hence I have #4.5 and #5 available. The suffer the same drawbacks as a heavy furl though, in that, you can't hold as much off the water. Having said that if it is the difference between fishing and not fishing... bring on the heavier lines!
Cust.
btw... Custom furles are excellent! (and that's from a competitor!)
