The following is an extract from the rules for fishing at the Ladybower system in the Peaks;
12.Each fishing permit shall permit the use of one rod and one line only. No casting rod or fixed spool reel, thread, line or bubble float shall be allowed.
Could someone explain the statement ' casting rod' .
Personally i would not use a Tenkara rod at this reservoir but i would in the Derwent below the dam. I wonder if this is a ban by stealth .. or am I just paranoid ...

I don't see this associated with tenkara IMHO...my interpretation of a casting rod is a spinning rod like the abu offset handle rod or American type casting rod with an integrated reel, like the abumatic.

For 'thread, line', read, threadline (reel). Then it makes some sort of sense.
