Some lovely casting there and a fish at the end. Interesting to see Leckie fishing down and across working his way down river. That used to be my usual method for western tackle but now I tend to fish up river far more. I bump too many fish sweeping the flies and hook up much better casting upstream.
Great to see some video though.

Nice video guys, I'm glad to see you got some action down the Esk. I started fly fishing as a dry fly only guy so I've always fished upstream, I've always been happier seeing takes than feeling them. does it feel different on a tenkara rod ?

custheyder / the troutfly, The way I fish down and across is completely different to the traditional western method of fishing a wet fly, which is usually a team of 2 or 3 flies. I use a single barbless fly...always a sakasa kebari...and with the line off the water the fly is always on or very near the surface....I can see the fish rising to the fly or a flash of its flanks as it comes up for it...it's not dry fly fishing but it's a lot closer than the traditonal method....of course you can also impart a few twitches on the rod to add some life in the fly to wake up any sleepy trout...and with the length of the rod you can sweep the river from side to side as you go down. If I see rises then like you guys I will fish the dry....you can't beat the dry I agree tight lines Alex

Thank you for the explanation of how you work it Alex. Very interesting to learn how people are adapting techniques and how it is working for them. Thumbs up! nice one.
