Researching line storage options that are available I put some thought into how I could store my tenkara lines both on and off the rod, the solution I came up with was Slide Winders: My full blog post is here: thetroutfly.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/tenkara-line-storage.htmlLet me know what you guys think ?

Strangely, I just ordered some if these, but the 130mm ones.
The plan is to use them to have fly already tied tippers, to replace tangled tippets on the river. I thought the sides would give some protection from crushing dry flly hackles, with maybe some tweaks to the design.
This is an attempt to find a solution to needing to juggle reading and distance glasses. Tangled tippets will just be removed and replaced (with fly attached)
They haven't arrived yet, so they may not yet be any good for my purpose.

They should work just fine for storing tippets & flies, you'll maybe even get two tippets on each one Graham. Here's a photo of it on my wee rod

I hadn't thought about two tippets per slide, that makes it look an even better idea.
Thanks,

I can recommend PS Aero products line reels. They allow the rod to be extended and the line to unreel at the same time. They are sold as control line storage reels and cost about £3.50 each. I have 4 and find them extremley easy to use.

I have been using the pole rig winders for a while now & they seem to work well.
It was an idea i robbed from my father after watching him setting up his pole fishing rigs the day before a coarse match. I have also used old bayer line spools with the plastic line cover to good effect.
