Not the easiest of places to get to but very beautiful. I decided to start opening day in the gorge. Despite 2 hours fishing in the idilic surroundings I only managed to move one fish from under my feet. I've no idea where the others were hiding.

I'm using my prototype rod the 360cm 6:4. There was quite a lot of bow and arrow casting involved but it is surprisingly open to flick a line. Previously I've fished it with a 7'6" 3#. The longer tenkara rod worked very well in the confined gorge allowing me to get a fly everywhere I wanted it.
In the bright sun the red section near the handle was very bright and sparkly... a little much for me, but the transulcent red on the red of the rod brought a smile when the sun caught it right and it would show off it's colours.
It is a special place to fish. Some of those pools you can;t see the bottom of! It is especially nice when you get to the bottom and out on to the beach. I've been know to take a swim.
There is a good run of sea trout that come up this stream. I had one of 5lbs one year. That was a bit of a battle on a 3# rod. Fortunately I was stood at the neck of the pool and she couldn't get past. Round and round and round she went in the pool till ahe tired and I netted her. There was some bad cormorant marks and a puncture so I dispatched her. We ate well that night.

It's an old 6 megapixel Pentax Optio W10. Being water proof means I can get shots like this as well.... This little chap stayed at my feet after releasing for a photo before joining the shoal. (Silverburn trout on opening day.)

What wonderful looking water, especially through the jaundiced eye of an angler. There might be a new fish to try for at every pace.

that looks like tough water for fly fishing, ok on dry, but not on wet as not much time to keep the fly deep enough in the water?
i grew up on streams like this in the mountains of the west of Ireand and worming was de rigueur ;D
