Now for the wet fly version. Tied on the same eyeless hook as before but this time I've managed to work in a teardrop tungsten bead... a very very small one. I've also gone with a smaller loop in Kryston Samson 6lb hair braid. What do you think of this one? Cust.

The body is varnished red thread. 3 coats of Sally Hansen "Hard as Nails"and it glows. I'm looking to get some Bug Bond to try that as an alternative. The hooks you have there are spade ended hooks. The ones I use are straight shanked and incredibly fine wired. You can see a picture on my Sakasa Kebari fly compared with a Knapek Dry size 12. btw.. your second link took me to a broken page, but I've seen your other fly before. Very e it is as well. Cust.

thanks - I fixed the second link. If I varnish bodies, I typically use Loon UV knot sense, works just fine for my purposes. I tied my recent eyeless kebaris with a white thread underbody and ultra thread (or you could use silk) to promote translucency when wet. I will take a few pix before/after and post on my blog later.

I have in the past used silver tinsel beneath a very thin thread layer. That really bounces the light back for a translucent effect, but it's a bit fiddly. I might have to get some of that UV knot sense and give it a go. Does it shrink much when it cures?
