Don't forget to donate some of the money you make while working up there to local environmental charities AND turn up to any working parties I donate every time i fish, just like you i suppose. After recent commets by you and your friend i do not feel comfortable about attending working parties, the feel of your post above shows the reason why. I may have made comments that you disagree with and are easy to take out of context. And the blame may be all mine, for which i have already apologised.. but ... I'm too old to be bothered by bullying. take care, stay safe ... I’m sorry but claiming that you’ve apologised is news to me! Not too sure how my post above could make anyone feel uncomfortable about attending a working party either? ? Especially on a river well away from what either of us would class “home territory”. Edit; In the light of your recent PM (& apology), I admit your attitude may not have come across in print as perhaps you intended. Perhaps you could afford me the same leeway? Honest mistake? Bygones?

The problem with txt and forum posts is thet never actually convey the real way we mean to say things. Happy to say sorry, and happy to move on. Lets be honest, i could do with some of your experiance and assistance. Many thanks, David, look forward to seeing on the river bank....

Monday 06 May 2013 Headed down to the river early...about 06:30hrs...the temperature was mild at 10 degrees C.....the river was running steady and clear....I continue with the sakasa kerabi fished down and across....first run I have a fish on....he slips the hook...I move downstream...this is a nice deep pool...I'm working the fly down the pool and get another pull and a fish is on....and off again....aaargh....I check the fly...it looks okay...I move down to this run where I've had success in the past... Within a few minutes I have another on....and lose it yet again.....I decide to switch flies....I put on a black spider....tied on an eyeless hook and move down to the next run... First cast and I connect with a nice trout...just as I get the handing net ready...he slips the hook I continue working my way downstream and connect with another...he's small but he's leaping all over the place until I finally get him into the net... I work my way back to the bridge...had a few knocks but no connections....still it was a good morning's fishing with many more to come tight lines Alex

Wednesday 8 May 2013 I'm back at the same location I was on Monday...this time it's evening...I cast my first line at 7:30 pm....I'll fish till dusk...hopefully this will be the most productive time...although I spotted about 4 or 5 rises...only two fish came to the fly...one I just felt a pull and no connection and the other as very small fish of 5 inches came to hand and was quickly released. Funny old sport is fishing Tight lines Alex

Sunday 12 May 2013 It's early morning and I'm back at Polton...the river is still very low and clear...I'll work my way downstream so I'll use a single green bodied sakasa kebari tied on an eyeless hook...I enter the river at the tail of a nice pool so I fish upstream for a bit but no takes so I move down to the next run and I get a pull on the line but don't connect...I try again and I'm into a small trout...and here he is... I come to one of my favourite runs and almost immediately get a strong pull but no hook up...I cover him again and he takes once more but again no hook up...I try a few more times but he's not interested so I continue to move downstream....I'm now past the road bridge and the dam and I'll try the last 40 minutes or so starting from this nice looking run... No touches on this stretch....I'm at the last pool before I pack up and I see a trout rise right beside my fly...I think he was going for it but missed....but he takes it again and this time I can feel him on...then he's off again....oh well...I'll get him next time

Thursday 16 May 2013 I head down to the river for a couple of hours after work....the first pool is alive with fish taking large Mayflies on the surface....I'm fishing with a single green sakasa kebari fished down and across....I feel a tug...miss it....I get one more tug on the line but no connection...the trout are still rising so I decide to switch to a klinkhammer and fish the pool upstream....I tempt a rise from one trout but still no connection...the rises are more sporadic now so I decide to head downstream....I switck back to a sakasa kebari....nothing in the next pool...but I get three good pulls at the next run...again no hook ups...further downstream I fish at the head of a nice run and work my way down....I get a number of pulls and connect with two fish but both slip the hook....it's time to head home now so I'll come back tomorrow morning on the way to work to see if I can nail one.
Tight lines

Friday 17 May 2013 My first cast is just before 7am back at the pool where I saw lots of rising fish yesterday evening...I don't see any this morning....still fishing down and across using a green sakasa kebari...I'm at the tail of the pool now and cover a spot where a fish was rising yesterday....as soon as the fly lands it is engulfed by this little beauty... Working my way downstream I must have had seven or eight good pulls...no hooks though but still it was a good session before the start of another working day Tight lines Alex

Tuesday 21 May 2013 I thought I'd drop off at Roslin on the way home from work....and I bumped into Buglife (Simon).... he's been very busy at work and hasn't had a chance to do much fishing of late...but he's still fishing with the T rod...we had a chat as we walked downstream...he was fishing upstream dries and I was sticking with the sakasa kebari fished down and across....I nailed these two from the same run... a few minutes later at the tail of the run this one came to hand Tight lines Alex

Wednesday 29 May 2013 Stopped off for an hour before work at Roslin...I'm sticking with a size 16 dry fished down and across...the river is low and clear...dare I say that we could do with some rain to get the level up a bit....but I'm sure that will come Anyway I caught a nice little brace which set me up nicely for the rest of the day... Saturday 8 June 2013 I'm fishing the Polton stretch and start at one on my favourite runs where there's a fallen tree right across the river right in the middle of the run...downstream from the tree near at the middle / tail section is where I normally get a few offers....I bow and arrow cast my single sakasa kebari over the fallen tree...I didn't have long to wait before this little fella grabs hold of the fly...landing him was a bit tricky...eventually I had to pass the rod under the tree otherewise I could envisage a lot of tangled line to sort out.... Well that me christened my replacement Iwana which arrived in Thursday...fantastic service. I get another four or five pulls on the line without any hook ups...it goes quiet so I move down to the next pool...I get quite a few offers before I manage to bring this guy to hand... I only get one more pull in the next half hour so I pack up and head home. Tight lines Alex

Monday 17 June 2013 I'm sticking to a size 16 dry fished downstream...the river is very low and I have to check the fly every two or three casts to make sure it hasn't picked up any weed....I working my way downstream and I like the look of the long run and pool that I am approaching....this is new territory for me so my expectations are high....I get a nice pull at the head of the run but don't connect...near the middle there are a few rises.... they look as though the fish are a decent size by the look of the rises....within a couple of casts I get a good tug on the line but don't connect...I cast again...this time the fish is on...it's a nice one...but it gets off pretty quickly....still the fish aren't put off...I try again and connect with this little beauty... A couple of runs further down I bring this one to hand... I get a number of tugs and pulls over the next hour or so but don't connect with any more this session Tight lines Alex
