Dave, Scoop nets are ok. I use one, but would like a slightly longer handle. What size is it then. Bill

dave1972, I use a wooden scoop net 22" x 9" that I got on ebay. Cost me £15 +£3 p&p. Does the job nicely. However you do need a coiled magnetic lanyard to attach it to the back of your fishing vest / jacket, but they're not expensive. leckie

my nets 24"x12" from ebay. wooden scoop net.the mesh is quite deep aswell which makes it a struggle sometime when unhooking. perhaps i might reduce the depth on the mesh and try again

dave1972,
I think a bit a needle work is required and reduce the size of that net! It'll make all the difference I bet.

if you can find a fine mesh net than that would be better.
some of the rubberised net meshes on the market are very good.
I think Tenkara USA sell net meshes, if that helps.
They may even have stock hear in the UK. may be worth a quick email to Tenkara USA.
Kind Regards SKUK

This may be a bit late for the debate but Simon gave me a great tip about using a type of net used in pond maintainance, ie for removing exotic fish. I bought this net for £8 and it measures 9" x 12" with a depth of approx 9". I call it a pan net, it's just a small coarse landing net and very sturdy. I had a 1.5 lb grayling in it yesterday, no trouble. The handle needs to be fairly long, I used the final section of a carbon fibre extending handle, cut down to a length to suit me. I'm using a magnetic release in the position shown and the handle is completely out of the way whilst fishing, with the net head uppermost. This came from Waterworld at Burton, on the Wirral. Really good and no more stretching. What do you think ? Cheers, Louis
