Guys, When you get to the river and you find it is high and coloured what do you do Do you turn back and go home or can you still catch fish on the fly or nymph in these conditions Your experiences would be appreciated. leckie

Get down low and fish the undercuts of the bank real close in from the bank with a big heavy bug.

springwell, Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a go next time I'm on the river in full spate conditions. I reckon a river has three states that may require different techniques but I'll experiment over the course of the season 1. Rising 2. Steady 3. Falling Using a heavy weighted nymph is a good bet for a river in full spate. leckie
