Hello all.Now we are coming to the end of the trout season i will be switching to a river that has Grayling.I want to continue through the winter with tenkara rods. This river has downstream winds very often & thinking about ways i can fish with the wind.Thinking about trying a spider team 2 or 3 spiders maybe a beadhead on the point (across & down at times) l can see fankled droppers being a problem though using 0.12 tippet. Not sure i would want a double hookup with higher than 0.12 tippet with my Sato.Anyone fishing spider teams with there tenkara rods. What tenkara spider leader setup do you use & how do you find the multipul flies with tenkara. With western setups i would normally just increase the diameter & keep fankles down. But tenkara rod breakages being a worry .cheers all

I have fished multifly rigs with my tenkara rods without any problems. The Italians in the Sesia Valley when fishing Valsesiana style. The only problem I see is that allowing the flies to swing too far round and a fish taking on the dangle. I hope that these thoughts help.

Worth a go when the winds blowing downstream.Worked for Webster multiple flies.Think he fished them upstream though.Having doubts about tenkara rods being as versatile for nymphing as my 10/3wt rod with french leader though.I would probably buy a couple of keiryu rods if they were more available with spares in the Uk.Anyway will persevere into the winter with my tenkara rods for now.Cheers

I have found Czech nymph or a duo effective with a Tenkara rod for grayling, as do others better qualified. I am told there is not much difference to using a fly rod except it is against competition rules! A New Zealand rig lessens tangles. I tie a small loop of Bead Cord (available from Esoteric Tackle and often used in kebari for the eye) or nylon line at the bottom of the indicator fly as I use barbless hooks.
