Tip protection I like to tackle up my Tenkara rod when I am at home so I am ready to fish. I also like to keep the rod tackled up when moving between fishing spots on the river bank. However I must confess I do worry about damaging the rod tip in the process, but have found a solution, which works for me. I attach the line to the lilian, making sure the rod tip and all, or part of the lilian, are still 'within' the rod, cover it with a leather finger stall ensuring that it fits tightly over the top, so there is no movement from the rod tip within. This can be achieved by wrapping the elastic loop attached to the finger stall tightly round the top of the rod, twisting the elastic, creating a loop which is brought over the top and secures the finger stall to the rod. See attached photo. Leather finger stalls can be purchased from most chemists. They come in three sizes- small, medium or large, costing about £1.40 each. I use the small size although size is not too critical as the wrapping of the elastic tightly around the rod takes up any slack. When I get the chance I intend to try it without the elastic, using a strip of self adhesive Velcro glued to the finger stall but for the time being the elastic works fine. Apart from protecting the tip you can leave the rubber tip stopper at home, thus minimising the chance of losing it on the river bank. Another of my worries! David Attachments:

Interesting David and if it works then fine. I still use the Raji spools for moving around between pools. No tips broken yet! Glyn
