I've got a weeks holiday near Corwen next week and hope to take a Tenkara rod with me, can anyone recommend any day ticket water nearby that I can sneak a few hours on.

I've got a weeks holiday near Corwen next week and hope to take a Tenkara rod with me, can anyone recommend any day ticket water nearby that I can sneak a few hours on. Trevw it must be 35+ years since I fished this area but the Welsh Dee and its tributaries has some excellent fishing. You are not that far from Llangollen, in one direction and Bala in another.I suggest you have a look at the following:- www.llangollen-maelor-angling.comwww.balaangling.co.ukI used used to be a member of both. In particular I very much enjoyed fly fishing the Bala waters where the Dee flowed out of Bala lake. However I regularly used to buy a day ticket from the Crown Inn - www.the-crowninn.co.uk - not far from Corwen if my memory is correct. They had a short stretch of the River Alwen ( where the 'Grey Duster' was born). We always used to catch lots of small trout and dace on fly. Great fun but it was about 35 years ago! I never fished Corwen & District Angling Club waters - www.corwenanddistrictanglingclub.co.uk - but I note they do sell day tickets too. Have fun David

Hi Louis thanks for your advice a couple of weeks ago, but as I mentioned I'd cut my heel which made wading boots and wading a no no, by the time it had become less painful the river was well up and unfishable. I'll be in touch and maybe book that guided day I spoke of. Many thanks Trevor
