Fascinating historical descriptions of fixed line fly fishing from around europe that I researched a year ago. The whole article is fab but page 9 is where the descriptions start: linkHappy fishing Phil

Here's a couple of videos from Georgia in Europe demonstrating remarkable congruence to tenkara and pesca alla Valsessiana. The first video shows downstream presentations with pulsed rod tip manipulations (sasoi), the second a hand tied palmered fly pattern: Super interesting stuff. Happy fishing Phil

Thanks for this Phil and yes you can see the similarities. Wow these guys must think trout don't scare easily! The fly is a whopper also but, the river looks lovely although one wonders how many fish are left in it if they bosh them all on the head as the guy in the film has. Tight lines Glyn

Tight lines Glyn Sure is a big fly like some big hooked kebari. A different river fishing culture from the pleasure angling we do here. These guys will take and eat what they need. I've fished with people like these on my travels. Once you got what you need they don't carry on - very pragmatic attitude. Happy fishing either way. Phil
