Hi all, looking for a days tuition but don't know of anyone in the Durham and Northumberland area. I am willing to travel and am not restricted to weekends. Can anyone make any suggestions. Best regards, Ray

If you are interested in traditional Tenkara with Sakasa Kebaris then I'd suggest you contact Paul & John at Discover Tenkara for tuition. If you are just interested in Tenkara as a means of presenting dry flies, nymphs etc. I'd be happy to team up with you somewhere & show you the bits that I've gleaned about how to fish with Tenkara gear. I've only played with Sakasas as for me Tenkara is about presentation of the imitative patterns that I use, particularly dry flies.

Hello Ray, I notice that you have had no replies just yet so I thought you might be interested in the following. Not aware of tuition in your area but Steve Cheetham, www.FishingwithStyle.co.uk is in the Leeds area and our own Discover Tenkara lads. Both are Tenkara approved guides. I appreciate you will need to travel. I never regretted having a days tuition. Sorts out any misunderstandings. Good Luck.

Cheers for the nods guys Just to say that we run both group day and one-to-one tuition and here are a few clips of a typical group tuition day:

Thank you all for your advice. I followed a link on here to the discover tenkara site last night and emailed JP for a bit more information on where the courses are based and what is covered in the day. I received email from John this morning with all I wanted to know plus his phone number, so all I have to do now is make arrangements for a mutually agreeable date. I have been out a couple of times just to try casting, on the river browny, a small tributary to the river wear but the first time I just got tackled up and it decided to blow a gale, very frustrating! But the next time it was still a bit windy but the high banks on this stream meant it was calm on the water. I was only there for a couple of hours but had a great time fishing a size 16 partridge and orange dressed kabari style, one small trout came up for the fly so fast it left the water. Thanks again for your replies. Regards, Ray

Hi Ray
Happy to meet you for a one to one. Or both Steve Cheetham and I will be running a group workshop in early September for the bargain price of £55 per person.
Very happy to talk about your rivers and tenkara approaches.
Kind regards
Phil

Hi Marco - we only have one day arranged so far and that was for a "ready made" party of people who came to us. One of the reasons we were holding back on sorting days out was because we had a surprise return trip to Japan arranged (we did not expect to go back until 2016 - but an opportunity arose for May this year!).
We will try to schedule a couple more events between ebook writing/publication and next DVD release (Vol. 3) both due out this summer.
