Last week on Pickering Beck I managed to break the 2nd section from the Tip of my Nissin Rod it couldn't have been the Tip of course because I have a spare tip! Hopefully when I go to Florida next week I will be able to get Chris Stewart to send me a part.
So that was bad but today was even worse. Towards the end of last year I broke a middle section of my Try 360 (also on Pickering Beck) unfortunately Oleg's helper sent me the wrong section and then I had to wait for a replacement with the old purple highlights to arrive in CZ. The correct part arrived on Saturday and I was keen to try it out today on the Urban River Don. On my first cast the rod just broke in half! Perhaps whatever happened previously to the middle section must have damaged the section which broke today. My Try 360 will be out of service now until I get back from Florida towards the end of April. Just as well I have other T Rods in my arsenal.
My Sato stood in this morning for the short session on the Don and I had one very nice Grayling one yearling Grayling and 2 table sized WBT.

That's rotten luck Brian.
Glad to hear the Sato did the job for you.

Hi there Brian have you been using beaded nymphs or weighted flys ? If so the bead hitting the rod could have caused minute fractures not easily noticeable but causes weak spots next time used , JP told me this when I collected my T rod off him. Bad news about breaking so many though, good news that your not out of action. Tight lines Martin....

It is a sad record Brian. As a consolation, I'll send you a couple of segments today for free.

Sorry to hear that you've had problems. It happens to all of us & isn't confined to one brand of rod. Despite being as careful as I can be I've broken 4 rods in the 4 years plus I've been into Tenkara: Tenkara USA Ito (striking too hard on a very windy day), Tenkara Times Try 360 (hooking up on a tree trunk on the back cast & not noticing it), Esoteric 410 6:4 (dying to unjam a tip section jammed tight by a very active 4lb trout), Tenkara Center UK Hamon (playing a big rainbow after just having landed another one). Fortunately the service provided by all suppliers has been great, particularly Oleg who emailed me back when I let him know my Try was bust whilst fishing in Belgium & offered to send replacement tips to my hotel in Austria.

I think everyone, legitimate, that sells Tenkara rods does their best to provide back up service. I've sent rod tips to holiday homes in France before now and generally always have spare sections in stock.

You are right Daniel, I am very impressed with the after sales service of all the Tenkara suppliers I have dealt with in the past. I just haven't got around to breaking your ESO 410 6:4 yet :-)
