Just starting with Tenkara but am looking at; Sato
Looks okay to me with good write ups but I'm only a novice so will stand to be corrected. Ken.

Hello Ken, the reason I thought Chris may have suggested the long rod for the short line technique is the Field Master is a versatile rod being a 3 way zoom so it covers most of the bases, so a really long rod would give you another weapon in your armoury. I don't own a Sato but I do own a Suntech Field Master. I think the suntech would do everything the sato would. The suntech has more back bone I think which suits me but some may prefer the Sato. I've attached a comparison of the Suntech Suikei ( which is very similar to the field master ) v Sato tetontenkara.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/multi-zoom-rod-shootout-tusa-sato-v.html

The Kaname is a wonderful rod if you have room to fish it and don't mind two-handed casting. The more I use long (5.4m - 6.3m) rods the better I like them. I don't know marcouns' rivers, but a longer rod would indeed make sense since his Field Master covers all the shorter lengths.
The Suntech Suikei (medium), the one that Tom Davis compared to the Sato in that blog post, is coming back. I was able to persuade Suntech to do another production run. They're not on the TenkaraBum website quite yet but they will be shortly. The penny ratings are almost identical to the Sato. The bend profile is a bit different, though, making the rod a bit more versatile in casting a wide variety of flies.

All info' is good for a novice like me. Added. Wow, that looks like a great rod too. Not sure about the lack of cork for the handle, how does it feel in the hand ? Ken.
