What a corker of a fish well done.
I see you've left the plastic on the handle of the rod still, but I love the way the light is catching the rod and showing off it's true colour.

The best fish of 5 landed during a 4 hour session on the WoL today, all of the fish fell to the same Sakasa Kebari Midge I've been fishing since starting tenkara, I'm thinking this "one fly" madness might not be so mad. I also lost a really good trout in the Dells, I reckon it would have topped 2lb easy, snapped my tippet clean off after a strong fight.

That's another fast looking fish. Pity the 2lb'er got away.

thetroutfly,
What a beauty that fish is...lovely markings and is certainly not on a diet... Were you using your own mono furled leader or have you still to try it out?
tight lines

Were you using your own mono furled leader or have you still to try it out? tight lines Alex Yes Alex, I was using my own furled leaders, this fish was caught while testing a 12' furled level leader that performed very well on the day. I also caught fish while using a 9' level furled leader, the 9' leader was easier to hold off the water leaving the indicator just on the water but the 12' had the advantage of a little extra distance. As you know the WoL is fairly small so the shorter 9' leader wasn't really a problem. I'm enjoying experimenting with these mono furles, they seem to perform very well and I may well stick with them long term, it's easy to carry a few options ready to go in a cast wallet.

Just been for a look along the saughton stretch of the WoL, it's a bit high and a little coloured, there's a nippy breeze blowing bringing temps down so it's not looking great today, I'll maybe have a cast later if temps lift a little.

Friday 5 April 2013 - Longstone Just give the river a try during my lunch break...it's a bit coloured but not too high...I don't think there was too much rain during the night...perhaps snow melt from the Pentland hills...it's well fishable anyway....no hatches that I can see so I start at a nice run...this is a picture of the run from the tail as I cross the river... I'm still using a 2 fly set up fished down and across....no touches on this section....I move downstream and fish this run /pool.... no touches here either....I stop and have a chat with the water bailiff..although the river isn't stocked this year and the policy is C&R it's good to see that the water bailiffs are out in force. There's just no action in any rivers here around Edinburgh at the moment...or is it just me tight lines Alex

Wednesday 1 May 2013 I stopped off at Longstone on the way to work...the river is really showing it's bones here....don't think I've every seen it so low....the wind is picking up a bit so I'll fish a single sakasa kebari down and across...no offers and didn't see any fish rising so I packed up after 40 minutes or so Tight lines Alex
