I am very pleased to announce that Esoteric tackle has received a stock of Fujino tapered leaders, both the soft and midi in most sizes. We have also received the latest level line from Nissin in pink and have a new range of EVA Tenkara spools in regular and slim sizes.
They will be available in the shop as soon as the photography is completed.
Two more very exciting products will be available very soon. They are in the final stages of testing.

Great piece of kit cust. I bought a pair couple of years ago after seeing similar guards attached to Louis. Would be lost without them. Can recommend using them.

New Tenkara flies are available at Esoteric Tackle. Tied by Dragoslav Mihajlović they really are beautiful flies that are sure to catch fish. I'll be taking them out to try next time I am on the river. Made with Nymph Skin the segmentation is very juicy looking. This orange one has to be a favourite. It shouts "Eat Me!" My other favourite of the 6 is the Tan Nymph Skin Tenkara fly above. More natural in colour with just a little sparkle in the collar. I'll add to this report when I've had a chance to take them fishing.

Devastated to discover that my calves are not, after all, of mighty girth!

Don't be discouraged dbl. More fishing will build them up and into the winter when it gets really cold you might start to feel a more snug fit. Is it only me that wears neoprene socks and seal skinz under my waders in December?

I am very impressed with the Water Guards that I bought recently. Buying across the internet, I was concerned the about them fitting properly but the five Velcro straps mould the Water Guards perfectly to my knee and shin. The length is just right; covers the knee and extends down to protect the seam of the neoprene wader feet. In the river, the Water Guards feel snug and do little to impede the breathability of the waders. On the bank, they are a delight to wear now that the vegetation is growing. I have worn knee pads for fishing before but the Water Guards stay in place better and have the added protection for the wader fabric below the knee. I am almost looking forward to tackling some of the more overgrown streams that I read about on the forum! Alan

Thank you Alan! The neoprene is a special type with pores that allow water to get out as well as lets your lower leg breath a little.

New Rod!... Strooan Triple Zoom Tenkara Rod
Strooan is a Manx word that means "stream". The Esoteric Tackle Strooan is a triple zoom tenkara rod designed with the European and UK market.
Unlike other zoom rods on the market the Strooan has reasonable differences between it's lengths but still performs brilliantly at all of them.
365cm (12') - 325cm (10'8") - 285cm (9' 4") *
At the tip end is a swivel to reduce the twisting action some casts can put into a line. The handle is a firm EVA with a pommel end which is comfortable in cold weather, unlike Tenkara rods with metal ends.
The action of the Strooan is different to other rods in the Esoteric Tackle range. The tip is more progressive rather then the very flexible tips of our other rods. The flexibility in the rod is 6:4 but it feels a little stiffer because of the difference in the tip. There is no wobbling about after a cast.
The rod is very light at 83g or 2.9ozs. Very light and perfectly balanced. The recovery of the rod is positive. That is to say if you are using weighted patterns it will handle them without being overpowered.
Unweighted patterns are handled with ease. The rod is at home casting a #2 line as it is a #4.5. Dry flies or 2.9mm tungsten bead nymphs. It will cast them for a perfect presentation.
Closed Length: 62cm (including the 1cm end cap) Weight: 83g (2.9oz) Handle Length: 28cm Sections: 8
The Strooan comes with a spare tip set in a separate compartment of the bag protected with a plastic tube.
