Looks good Phil. When I first started with tenkara I could not find a line I liked. I used the Varivas Yamame Leader, 12'. It worked. I was then introduced to level fluoro by Stephen and was amazed at the difference. That said, I would like to try this line, but bright orange might be spooky to fish.

A very similar line is available in bright green. You could always just lengthen your tippet if you think the color will spook fish.
There was a series of photos on FAOL a while ago (which I can no longer find) where a guy used shorter and shorter tippets to see how it would impact his success. He used a furled leader made from fluorescent orange thread. When he got down to a 4" tippet and was still catching fish (wild cutthroats) he concluded that they weren't spooked by an orange line.

I can't comment on the Fujino nylon aspect but as I've written before, a tapered leader is far superior to level and I'll never change back, fabulous presentation and so easy to keep off the water.
I use green/yellow Yamatoyo which can be hard to see in certain lights so this week I (finally) took the advice of Chris Stewart who suggested inserting a short length of orange a foot back from the tippet - what a difference in take detection. I met Daniel Hall recently on the Dee and he does the same but using his BMS camo' line - you have the option of orange or pink, and surprising pink stands out better. I know what Chris has written about going down to a 4" tippet but extreme orange is a turn off for me, probably the fish as well.
However, I'm keen to try this nylon line.

I was given a tapered bright orange co-polymer shock leader by my sea fishing pal, I think they are used for surf casting and these make brilliant tapered lines. It was about 30ft long from 60lb down to 15lb I cut the last 12ft off and threw the rest. I used a loop made from braid line to attach it to the lillian. I find it a superb line for dry fly fishing it lands like thistledown on the water. For all my other tenkara I use level line orange sunline is my favourite as I can see it.
I don't go night fishing for sea trout any more I prefer to stay home and drink wine it must be old age but when I did I used extremely short leaders about 3ft of straight through 8lb mono attached to the fly line and would change the leader when it was down to about 2ft. I used to catch a lot of sea trout. It saved on tangles at night and made it easy to judge the distance to the far bank in the dark. I also use a short straight through tippet when fishing for bass in the sea it helps get the fly fishing at the depth you want quickly when using sinking lines.
I was reading trout & salmon magazine a few years ago there was a letter in there someone arrived at the river to go salmon fishing and realised they had no tippet line with them so he attached the fly directly to the fly line and went on to catch a salmon.

The issue with nylon and copolymer compared with fluorocarbon is the weight of the line. You do need a considerably thicker line to achieve the same weight for effective casting. A thicker line is effected by the wind a lot more.
I do carry clear tapered fluorocarbon lines from Sunline which you could put a hi-vis tip on to aid in bite detection.

I've used tenkarabum a few times you need to add international shipping of $7 on top of domestic shipping $3. So shipping would be $10 customs will leave you alone as the line is under £15 so no VAT.

Do these lines come with some kind of connector at the thick end as the knot with a 0.5mm line would be quite clumsy would it not? Or wouldn't it matter? Cheers Del.

They have a relatively short braided loop with which to make a girth hitch.
I've always wondered about exclusive distribution rights. Who enforces them and based on what law?

Thank you. I also wondered about 'exclusive distribution rights'. I know nothing about the retail business but maybe distribution rights are not related to having the right to sell something. Whatever, competition is always good for tackle tarts like me... Regards, Del.
