No hope here. The rivers are brown and running like express trains. Tonight's trip is cancelled.

Guys,
Things are looking a bit brighter for tomorrow afternoon up this neck of the woods so I intend to give it a try late afternoon and Saturday morning.

Derbyshire waters are in an awful state so its off up north for me this coming weekend.
I'm going to give the Upper River Tees a blast with the Ebisu on saturday, I fished it a couple of times last year & promised to return with the Tenkara rod this year.
If the river's unfishable then i'll give Cow Green Res a crack instead. If any members have been on this res, a few pointers would be welcome thanks.
Regards Stevie.

Derwent not too bad today. Finally christened my Iwana with this OOS Grayling so no apologies for picture. Bit of a scrap to say the least! My mate had a couple of brownies but on conventional fly tackle. I lost a couple of browns on the Iwana. Rich

Landing was a bit of hit and hope Alex. In the end I just held the rod behind my head and let the rod bend do the job. 12ft of furled leader and 4ft of 4lb fluorocarbon to the nymph.
I'm considering using it on a float tube!

Hi Whistlekiller.
Congrats on your Tenkara grayling.
Nice to see another Tenkara angler giving the River Derwent a bash.
If you dont mind me asking, Which stretch of the river were you on?
Regards Stevie.

A nice part of Derbyshire. Your not far from the Wye, Derwent junction. Your pretty well placed for the Dove & Manifold too, Do you drop onto these rivers on your travels?
Regards Stevie.

Only 50 minutes north-east of the area so yes, will try those two rivers given the chance Stevie!

Hi Just joined forum, eagerly awaiting my rod to be shipped from US. Just wondering what fellow DCAC will make of me thrashing the water at Willersley Castle with my Tenkara set up. Managed to net 3 Grayling & 2 Brownies out of the Dove last Saturday afternoon at Church Mayfield Czech Nymphing, Tenkara would have been ideal. Will keep posted when rod arrives and detail first excursion. Gary

Hi Gary.
Welcome to the forum,
I've used nothing else but my Tenkara rod for Czech Nymphing over the last 6 months & rate it highly for this style.
Your very lucky to fish such a stunning stretch of river as the Dove at Church Mayfield. I believe Salmon are making regular trips up the dove & can be veiwed at this spot.
All the best with your rod when it arrives.
Regards Stevie.

Hi Stevie, Many thanks, have seen many sizable fish trying to navigate the weir last few seasons, lovely sight to behold. Can't wait to skate a Double Badger down the foot of the pool with my new toy when it arrives (weather permitting). Cheers Gary
