grabbed a couple of hours this afternoon - river was low 0.23 despite recent rain but was carrying a milky colour. Minimal fly life except a few mayfly and only a few rising fish. The weather was very oppresive. However, I ended the session with 8 trout to 10" and a grayling, all bar one on the ever reliable GRHE sk. Strangely though, I didn't catch in pools which usually produced well but scored in other places where I'm sure the club members can't get at. This is Bradley water. Pretty fish and quite challenging. 7 minutes from home - what can I say.....
Disappointed not to see mayflies taken, another day perhaps.

hi merlyn. yes I have, with mixed results. The Alwen can be good but hard work, I never catch that many but others do. The Ceirw is a challenge in parts - the lower part from the footbridge to the stone bridge can be very good at times and easily fishable, the top end I've never done any good although I'm told that it can be good right up to the waterfall.Hard going up there. Sorry it's not much help, you'll just have to see how you get on, but loads of water needed.

I don't know the Alyn trib' but I think the Bersham stream is the Clywedog which runs through Erddig - it does hold trout but hammered by locals.

first trip yesterday on the Bradley stretch, height 0.26 but fishable. A few olives about and the odd rising fish. In a couple of hours I had 5 offers to the inevitable GRHE SK but only landed 1 oos grayling - obviously rusty but good to be out though. I normally use a Rhodo which I did for half of the session but switched to the new Esoteric Strooan which although being 18" longer was no problem and gave better control. The beat doesn't have too many problems with canopy.
Things can only get better....
