Starting to look good, unwrapped the joint last night and it holds! After a bit of sanding with the dremel to even up the arms, it looks and feels very good, will also unwrap Sonia's tonight with crossed fingers. Will take and post some photos tonight before staining and finishing. The question about where the net is from? It's off an old scoop net. Would like a Tenkarausa one but they are very expensive, any other ideas?

Simon, How about the 'pan net' that orangeotter has posted....get them from Waterworld and they appear to be the right size and cost £8 not $42 Alex

I'll have to have a look at the pet shop for the nets. Great news that the joint is holding. With regard to the net parts I'll haver a scout around my suppliers and see if I can come up with anything.

OK, here's an update on the Nets! All joints are now holding and both have been sanded, due to the different thickness of the arms the joints are not as perfect as I would have hoped. Also I managed to find another branch for net number 3, this one will have a longer handle, see photos. A couple more photos when the treatment is dry and sanded, not long now before they can be tried in anger. Simon. The handle of mine. Sonia's joint. My joint. Sonia displaying her net. My net. Following image are of net number 3.

So here's the first net fitting, at this time they are held on by tie wraps, not the perfect Size net, the black one on Sonia's is off an old scoop net while the green one is for the Koi fish keeper, bought today. Both nets are made form Yew. Hoping to finish the nets tomorrow using green crochet thread from the hobbie shop to bind the net on. Simon.

Simon,
Both of these nets look fanastic....it's amazing what difference a spot of stain and the net of course makes to the finished article...well done....almost there

They look fabulous... I bet you can't wait to get on the river with them.
Yew...great... any other woods you think would be viable?

They are quite simply awsome! The binding makes a huge difference to the look of the finished net. Hat's off to you.... Job well done.

Report and pictures are coming! I seem to have taken a lot of photos. I think they will be worth the wait.
