Have you found a net to fit yet?
Simon.

Sure have. Now being a true Yorkshire man born and bred, I bought one from the £ shop. Lightly disguised as a camping grab bag. It's wide enough, has a good depth, and it's strong enough to handle the job. I know this because I've been using one as a bass bag when stockie chasing for the table. Works a treat. Should be finished in a week or so, have to apply more varnish, three coats should do it, then fit the net.

Well it's done. The first and probably the last - until next winter or the glue fails. The net - can I call it a Tamo yet?

Well done fluf.
Great satisfaction in using something you've made to catch a fish.

Nice one Jim.
Yorkshire thrift and ingenuity at its best.
Like Paul says, it'll be great feeling when you land your first fish with your own net.
happy tenkara

This net making mularkey is very addictive init? I'm on my second now with the varnish drying as we speak (read). Only problem is the £ shop has run out of the nets! One more handle ready, just need to bend a twig into a circle and then number 3 is on the cards. I'll post a photo when the nets complete. Still don't think it's good enough to call it a 'Tamo'.

fluf, I found some good nets at the local pet store (pond nets). Also try Koi suppliers and the like. All should be well stocked at this time of year. You may just find what you want. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I'll be searching the pet/Koi carp shops next week once the Easter madness has faded. Meanwhile, here's the second of my nets. Once again the wood found on the river bank and a £ shop net. The net is sewn on using white backing line coloured with Sharpies black pen.

Found a great way to carry the net. A running belt with drink bottle from Sports Direct. It has two elasticated hoops just right for sliding the handle into, and a zip pocket that's just big enough to hold spool of level line and a spool of tippet. Holds the wading staff holster too. Bit like Batman's utility belt. Got a strange look from the girl behind the counter when I bought it, I'm no lightweight and I think she was concerned I was actually going running.
